A legend in radio, Gary Stone established himself as a pacesetter by growing a small Spanish radio station from $20,000 to $50,000,000 in annual sales. His innovations made radio history as Gary achieved unprecedented levels of growth, even during the toughest economy since the Great Depression. During his decade at Univision Radio, as President-COO, Gary Stone proved to be the stabilizing force behind the company's dramatic evolution, reaching approximately $500 million in sales with 74 radio stations in 17 markets across the US, including Puerto Rico. A Face for Radio shows how a determined young man with a love for music managed a seat-of-the-pants, career-carving journey in the constantly changing business of radio. Gary's support of all Latin artists whose music was played on his stations is legendary...He was able to cross over and make it big! -- Shakira Music, besides the fun of creating it and performing it, is in the end a business, and like anything in life, there are the good people and the bad people. Mr. Stone, man of his word who knows the industry inside out, is definitively on the top of the Good People List. -- Enrique Iglesias I have witnessed the historic growth of Latin radio and how important it is for the success of every artist's career. I believe that it is key to developing relationships with the DJs and programming directors, etc. They all are part of our success. In life, it is important to always be grateful. I'd like to thank Gary for all he has done in our career and what he continues to do for music. -- Emilio Estefan A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book goes to St, Jude Children's Research Hospital as well as to the Broadcaster's Foundation of America.

In 2004, Steven Bové almost lost his life. He had been married barely five months, and his baffling medical emergency made his new wife fear that she was about to become his widow. When excruciating pain, first felt during a workout, pushed him from doctor to doctor without answers, the newlyweds feared the worst. Soon he found himself in intensive care with his life hanging in the balance. The reason soon became apparent: blood clots were ravaging his body and shutting down his lungs. Even though complications nearly cost him his leg and his life, he battled onward. Ten excruciating days later, Steven emerged from the hospital a changed man. His near-death experience pushed him further down a path of self-discovery than he had ever been before. In the process, he discovered much about his body and his mind. The experience upended all of his previously held beliefs and had him questioning all that matters in life. His quest for harmonizing the mind, body, and soul had begun. The same blood clots that nearly took his life also saved him—in ways no one expected. The first part of this journey saw Steven and his wife, Jenn, moving from New Jersey to the west coast of Florida. Realizing how precious life is, they decided there was no more waiting for the right time to do things. The right time became now. To this day, he pursues the now and takes nothing for granted.

Eddie Mair is, by his own account, one of Britain's most beloved broadcasters. Born in Dundee, Scotland, he has worked in radio all his adult life. From the foothills of commercial radio in his hometown, through the sunlit uplands of the BBC in Scotland, he has reached the peaks of his profession, with BBC network radio in London. And he's never afraid to work a metaphor beyond endurance. In addition he's appeared on most of the BBC's TV channels, including ones that are no longer on TV. He witnessed the handover of Hong Kong and once asked Arnold Schwarzenegger a question - though he takes no responsibility for either. For nearly twenty years he has been at the helm of Radio 4's PM: a nightly news round up that means Eddie works for just one hour a day, giving him plenty time to knock together these diaries. Whether he's interviewing politicians, getting people to share their personal experiences, or just imparting his favourite zesty chicken recipes, Eddie is never happier than when he is at the microphone. Except when he is at the microphone with a large martini. In truth, his neediness is an irritation to everyone who knows him and if you buy this book he might get out of their hair. Eddie's other work, as a humanitarian and tireless, secret worker for charity is not mentioned in these pages.

Engage with everyday expressions in a completely different (and fun!) way, with this entertaining and interactive book of common phrases that can turn a humdrum gathering into a raucous game night. We use expressions all the time. When you feel sick, you’re “under the weather.” When you feel great, you’re “on top of the world.” You may be fine with “half a loaf,” or you may insist on “the whole enchilada.” But whether you’re a “smart cookie” or a tough one, you—and almost everyone you know—have a veritable smorgasbord of expressions stored deep in your brain. So to Speak: 11,000 Expressions That’ll Knock Your Socks Off is the largest expressions book of its kind. Thoughtfully divided into sixty-four categories—from Animals to Food & Cooking, from Love to Politics—these clever expressions (plus the dozens of game recommendations in the book) will keep you entertained for days. Authors Shirley and Harold Kobliner spent more than half a century nurturing and teaching children. So to Speak is a reflection of their deeply held belief that regardless of a person’s age, the most impactful learning happens when you’re having fun. Whether it’s grandparents teaching their favorite expressions to their grandkids, teens helping adults with the latest lingo, or millennials indulging in their love of wordplay and games, this is the perfect book to celebrate the joy of words and expressions.

Hollywood in the 1950s is a place of big glamour, small talk, and medium cool. The studios control everything, managing their actors' careers and massaging the image they present to the public. To do this, they need the press onboard, and the one aspect they can't control—gossip! This means the most powerful woman in Hollywood is Paige Turner, the celebrity columnist for one of America's most-read papers. Known for her outrageous headgear, Paige is often called “The Mad Hatter”—a nickname with a double meaning, since everyone wants to be invited to her publicity party. When a more salacious tabloid mentality creeps into the newsstands, though, Paige sees some of her ground being threatened. And the studios see a roguish new element that might not want to play ball. At the top of this salacious new art form is Harry Richards, “The Tabloid Dick,” the guy with the snooping peepers who keeps getting the scoop. What begins as a war of words ends up being a knock-down, drag-out fight for the number one slot as the biggest rumor monger in entertainment!
