Undeath is a manageable condition. That's what the media says, anyway: with the help of the miracle life-extension drug, Lazarus, the Undead can retain their humanity and live normal, happy lives. Without it, they become violent, mindless walking corpses. Davin Montoya was eager to believe all of that. Forced to drop out of college to take care of his teenage sister, Zoe, after their father drank himself to death, he was more than happy to sign the no-good alcoholic over to the government's Lazarus House for treatment. That was one less thing for him to worry about. Until an accident left him joining the ranks of the freshly deceased himself. Now, keeping his death a secret is the only way to keep his sister out of foster care. But to do so, he must venture into the underground society of Unregistered Undead - a dangerous world of drug deals and government resistance. But when their access to Lazarus begins to run dry, the truth starts to unravel...and it's not what anyone expected.

BEYOND THE SEA OF DREAMS Life had not been kind to Joe and Marge. Now, according to the strangers who met them on a road that wasn't there, they were due to die in nineteen minutes, eighteen seconds. But the ferryboat that waited to take them across the Sea of Dreams could bring them to a new and perhaps better life. There lay a world where fairies still danced by moonlight and sorcery became real. Joe could become a mighty-thewed barbarian warrior. Marge could be beautiful and find her magical self. But there was much more than they realised to this strange land. This was a world where Hell still strove to win its ancient war and demon princes sent men into battles of dark magic. It was a world where Joe and Marge must somehow prevent the coming of Armageddon.

King Leos of Károví, the tyrannical despot whose magic made him near immortal and who controlled a tattered empire for centuries through fear and intimidation, is finally dead. Ilse Zhalina watched as the magical jewels that gave him such power reunited into a single essence, a manifestly God-like creature who then disappeared into the cosmic void. Ilse is now free to fulfill her promise to Valara Baussay, the rogue Queen of Morennioù, who wants to return to her kingdom and claim her throne. Ilse will do all in her power to help Valara if only as a means to get to her home. Home to her lover, Raul Kosenmark, who is gathering forces in their homeland of Veraene now that Leos is dead in order to save them from an ill-advised war. Pulled by duty and honor, Ilse makes this long journey back to where her story began, to complete the journey she attempted lives and centuries before and bring peace between the kingdoms. Along the way she learns some hard truths and finally comes to a crossroads of power and magic. She must decide if duty is stronger than a love that she has sought through countless lifetimes. Will Isle give up her heart's desire so that her nation can finally know lasting peace? Allegiance is the thrilling conclusion to Beth Bernobich's River of Souls trilogy. Unfettered is an anthology of original fantasy fiction by some of the very biggest names in fantasy fiction, and it also features deleted scenes from A MEMORY OF LIGHT, the final book in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. This collection is not only a fantastic anthology in its own right, but it's a testament to the generosity found in the science fiction and fantasy community. When author Shawn Speakman fell seriously ill and was unable to pay his medical bills, that's when New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills. He also suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends, and Unfettered is the incredible result. Twenty-four tales comprise this superb collection, and as the title suggests, the writers were free to contribute whatever they wished. Table of contents: - Foreword by Patrick Rothfuss - Introduction: On Becoming Unfettered - Imaginary Friends by Terry Brooks - How Old Holly Came To Be by Patrick Rothfuss - The Old Scale Game by Tad Williams - Game of Chance by Carrie Vaughn - The Martyr of the Roses by Jacqueline Carey - Mudboy by Peter V. Brett - The Sound of Broken Absolutes by Peter Orullian - The Coach with Big Teeth by R.A. Salvatore - Keeper of Memory by Todd Lockwood - Heaven in a Wild Flower by Blake Charlton - Dogs by Daniel Abraham - The Chapel Perilous by Kevin Hearne - Select Mode by Mark Lawrence - All the Girls Love Michael Stein by David Anthony Durham - Strange Rain by Jennifer Bosworth - Nocturne by Robert V.S. Redick - Unbowed by Eldon Thompson - In Favour with Their Stars by Naomi Novik - River of Souls by Robert Jordan & Brandon Sanderson - The Jester by Michael J. Sullivan - The Duel by Lev Grossman - Walker and the Shade of Allanon by Terry Brooks - The Unfettered Knight by Shawn Speakman - The Twilight Dragon by Shawn Speakman (bonus story for UK edition)

River of God is an introduction to world missions aimed at undergraduate students. However, the readers will soon discover that the book is rich in its content far beyond the editors' original plan. It serves as a reader for people with various levels of missiological interest and competence and deals with cutting-edge issues in missions. This book introduces a new paradigm, Kingdom Missiology, which builds on shalom in the Old Testament and as Jesus applied to the Kingdom of God in the New Testament. The first half of the book looks at Kingdom Missiology from the biblical, historical, and cultural dimensions. The second half of the book describes helpful strategies in the implementation of this paradigm. The importance of urban ministry is woven throughout the book.

A recent study at Harvard University concluded that the proverbial midlife crisis is largely a myth. The proponents of the study acknowledged, however, that the time of midlife is a period rich with possibility for growth. In Crossing The Soul's River, William Roberts not only suggests but outlines a rite of passage for men who find themselves at this threshold of both danger and opportunity.More than a few calls have been issued for a male rite of passage. For example, James Hollis has noted, As Mircea Eliade, Joseph Campbell, and other observers ... have suggested, our culture has lost the mythic road map which helps locate a person in a larger context. Intertwining theology, psychology, and his own harrowing journey through midlife, Roberts addresses the importance of traversing the soul's river in search of personal growth and the need for guidance through this passage. He then constructs a series of soul tasks to facilitate the rite of passage toward reconciliation with the self.

Our lives are mostly composed of ordinary reality—the flow of moment-to-moment existence. In this anthropological study of the Amazon’s Mehinaku Indians, the author achieves an understanding of this part of reality by both observing various aspects of their experience and by relating how these different facets come to play in a stream of ordinary consciousness, a walk to the river. In this way, abstract schemata such as ‘cosmology,’ ‘sociality,’ ‘gender,’ and the ‘everyday’ are understood as they are actually lived.

The time is before Christmas during the Winter Solstice. The place is El Rio de las Animas Perdidas – River of Lost Souls. Before the arrival of the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Colorado, a regiment of Spanish soldiers exploring the area were lost to the river along with a box of gold coins. The river obtained its name in their remembrance. Nobody really knows what happened to the soldiers, but a young boy, Jimmy, and his mother riding the train in present day discover that the ghosts still inhabit the canyon with the river, in a place called Purgatory. After boarding the train for a winter’s ride to Silverton, they find themselves caught in the middle of an ancient battle between the ghosts of the soldiers and that of a skinwalker, a Navajo witch called Raven, who is hell-bent on revenge. In this, the right place called Purgatory, at the right time – the Winter Solstice, will the boy escape with his life? Will the cries of the ancient ghosts of the soldiers finally be silenced? Will the skinwalker finally be called to justice for his crimes against humanity? And what of the gold? An old Navajo grandfather, called Nighthawk, just might have the answers.

Joe Meek was one of the West's irresistible characters. He was dashing, devil-may-care, cheeky, irreverent, and more fun than a playful grizzly cub. Initially, he covers his early life adventuring in the Rocky Mountains, California, and the Southwest. His firsthand account of fur-traders is priceless, as are his descriptions of the country, mountains, and the life of a mountain man. Then, Joe Meek's life as pioneer, sheriff, U.S. Marshall, and legislator is told in his own engaging voice. The turbulent years in the Northwest include the story of trappers, traders, missionaries, women, pioneers, and Native Americans that finally came together and created a state--Oregon.
