WHEN YOU LIVE FROM THE LOVE WITHIN, TRUE FREEDOM REVEALS ITSELF Chris is a horseman, spending his days helping people and their horses to connect with each other. He's living his dream, and happy for it. Then one day a woman he has never met writes an article about him and his horse, Rocky, that forever changes his life. Through the deep connection he feels with the woman and the relationship they enter into, immense challenges arise within Chris that he must find great courage to face. He finds himself in unknown lands, and only by looking to Rocky and the other horses in his life can he find the wisdom and insight to find his way. Stirring and inspiring, The Horses in Our Stars is a deeply honest account of a journey we are all on. The story goes straight to the heart of the love and fear ever-present in our lives, and shows we are truly all in it together. "Chris takes us with him onto the horse's back and by their side, while showing us that human partnerships parallel horse partnerships, that these relationships require the same commitment and face the same questions and struggles, the same pain and happiness." -- Helen Peppe Internationally recognized photographer and author of Pigs Can't Swim Chris Lombard lives in Maine. He travels throughout New England and to other parts of America in his work helping people and their horses. To learn more about him visit www.ChrisLombard.com.

The report of the first United States expedition to the Southwest, here in the handsome first British edition. One of the most important American travel books, including accounts of Pike's explorations on the Mississippi, Red, and Arkansas rivers and his visit to the Spanish settlements in New Mexico. He also visited northern Texas, and Streeter considers his account excellent. The maps present in this edition are the "Map of the Interior Part of Louisiana" and a reduced version of the map of the Mississippi. The Pike expedition stands with the narratives of Lewis and Clark, and Long, as the most important of the early books on western exploration.

Thomas Peacemaker, having left behind a career as a wily Texas Ranger, leads a quiet life as a county sheriff in New Hampshire, enjoying the pristine natural beauty of New England as much as the chai tea lattes he gets from his local Starbucks. But when Jacques Fortier, the retired hockey star known as the Johnstown Jet, is found dead under a hexagram painted in blood, Sheriff Peacemaker - along with a crew of maverick former Rangers, two Zulu warriors, and his trusty bobcat Bill - is on the case. As Peacemaker begins to investigate the case of the murdered hockey star, he realizes he's treading on thin ice - and as the townspeople try to warn him, he doesn't know what demons lurk beneath the sleepy town's serene surface. After secrets emerge about a history of occult activities in Johnstown and a series of scandals in Fortier's past, Peacemaker realizes that his quiet county is haunted in more ways than one - and it's going to take a magical elixir of African witch doctoring and Texan know-how to purge Exeter County of evil once and for all.

"In Sholeh Wolpe's Rooftops of Tehran , an unforgettable cast of characters emerges, from the morality policeman with the poison razor blade to the crow-girls flapping their black garments, from the woman with the bee-swarm tattoo emerging from her crotch to the author as a young girl on a Tehran rooftop with a God's eye view 'hovering above a city / where beatings, cheatings, prayers, songs, / and kindness are all one color's shades.' Here is a delicious book of poems, redolent of saffron and stained with pomegranate in its vision of Iran and of the immigrant life in California. Wolpe's poems are at once humorous, sad, and sexy, which is to say that they are capriciously human, human even in that they dream of wings and are always threatening to take flight." --Tony Barnstone, Award winning poet and translator, author of The Golem of Los Angeles
